Hotel Equatorial Ho Chi Minh City is an internationally recognized five-star hotel located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. With over 30 years of presence and development, Equatorial has become one of the long-standing international hotel brands closely connected to the city’s rhythm and lifestyle.
The hotel features 333 elegantly designed rooms and suites, along with a wide range of amenities spanning dining, meetings and events, fitness, spa, and premium leisure experiences. Beyond serving international travelers and business professionals, Equatorial is also regarded as a hospitality landmark—defined by continuity, stability, and enduring brand values within Ho Chi Minh City.
2. About Project
As part of its brand repositioning campaign marking a 30-year milestone, one of Equatorial’s key strategic initiatives was the renewal of its brand identity system—signaling innovation and renewal while preserving the values built over decades.
Helius Media was honored to be selected to produce the brand renewal film, capturing the milestone moment of Equatorial’s new logo and refreshed visual identity—from a sense of nostalgia to a confident, forward-looking transformation.
While the installation process played an important role in the visual narrative, the core spirit of the project was not technical execution, but a brand-driven perspective: portraying how an international five-star hotel steps into a new identity phase while maintaining seamless continuity with its 30-year legacy.
3. Creative Direction
From the early stages, the creative direction was shaped through close collaboration and ongoing dialogue between both teams. Helius Media conducted in-depth research into the brief, communication context, and the brand values Equatorial has consistently upheld throughout its development in Ho Chi Minh City.
Based on this foundation, the hotel entrusted Helius Media with a high level of creative freedom, placing confidence in a balanced approach that aligned brand direction with cinematic storytelling.
The key challenge lay in harmonizing two seemingly contrasting insights:
On one side, the dynamic and powerful pace of construction—representing movement and transformation.
On the other, the essence of five-star hospitality: relaxation, attentiveness, refinement, and elegance.
The creative solution focused on minimizing technical visuals while emphasizing emotion, rhythm, and symbolism—allowing the renewal process to unfold naturally and in alignment with the hotel’s identity.
4. Execution
The pre-production and filming phases were carefully coordinated between both teams, ensuring a smooth and efficient execution. The contractor’s installation team also worked closely with Helius Media, enabling the capture of key moments in a safe and seamless manner.
In the first draft, Helius Media adopted a dreamy, fantasy-driven, and wonderful tone, with a gentle rhythm and emotional flow—reflecting the sense of relaxation and brand values that have defined Equatorial for more than three decades.
Following internal reviews, the hotel provided feedback to adjust the film’s energy and pacing, incorporating a stronger, more dynamic rhythm combined with epic elements. This direction was intended to highlight the brand’s transformation during a ceremonial milestone and official announcement.
Based on this feedback, the official version was finalized to serve the repositioning event and communication plan. At the same time, the hotel’s leadership also appreciated the creative spirit of the first version, recognizing its alignment with long-term branding values, and expressed interest in retaining both complete versions.
With a collaborative and flexible mindset, Helius Media delivered two finalized versions—meeting both immediate communication needs and long-term brand objectives.
5. Results
The brand renewal film was prepared for release as part of Equatorial Ho Chi Minh City’s communication plan celebrating over 30 years of brand presence, while marking the introduction of its refreshed visual identity.
Visuals extracted from the film were also utilized across new communication materials and brand touchpoints, including banners, digital platforms, and updated visual assets within the brand environment.
6. Conclusion
The milestone of renewing Equatorial Ho Chi Minh City’s brand identity carries significance not only for the hotel itself, but also as a meaningful moment within the broader hospitality landscape of Ho Chi Minh City.
For long-established hotel brands, visual renewal is never merely a change in appearance—it is a careful process of honoring values, memories, and stories that deserve to be preserved and communicated thoughtfully. Equatorial stands as a clear example of selective innovation, where heritage and the future move forward together.
